Hey fellas at the swabian republic and all around the world!:-)
It has been a while since my last post, but I've been busy:-) Well not the stressy-bussy, more the having-a-lot-cool-stuff-to-do-busy! I've been working a lot this week, but the project is completely interesting and so it was fun working (is it allowed to use fun and work in one sentence?:-) Yeah and I've been surfing a lot the last few days, and I'm getting better everytime! New record: 3 sec. standing on the board! Applause pleassse!

Today, it's saturday, was actually really cool. The famous skatepark down at Venice had his big reopening today. So I went down there to see the magic happen. Hundrets of skateboarders where celebrating and listening to some of the oldest dogtown-icons. I have no idea who they all are, but they all seemed to be part of the hardcore-local scene with few teeth left in their mouth and the whole body covered up with some lousy tattoos:-) Above this paragraph you see some of the pics I've taken today. I like them a lot, and look at the young kid, he rode the bowl like hell, amazing!

Also have a look at the NICE RIDE!!! I think this one is my and Bruces' dream! A white and blue old VW Bully...but maybe I bring one back home...planes are getting bigger and bigger (but me too:-). The funny thing is, in Germany you'll never see one of them, only if you got a really really lucky day...2 minutes after taking this photo, I've already seen another one of this type in a parking lot, America is car heaven!

But now I got to go to the Freestyle Motocross World Championship in Pamona, see the guys going crazy on their rides. I'll hopefully can take some pix out there. Above, you see a video of my first national anthem, perfect singer, but the guitarplayer sucked as hell and brought her out of business...but anyways, enjoy your day.

See you soon!
Don

Ey whats up my loved ones out there?
It's tuesday night and you won't believe how good I'm doing here, this life here is damn nice right now! I really enjoy life everyday to the fullest...Here's something for your entertainment while reading (love the guy and the song):

Yesterday was a cool day, not that much to mention, work was cool and I've been watching a great movie, it's called YES MAN, watch it, it's worth it! The not that good thing on yesterday is, that our little rat, so called Katzebohle, is sick and pukes and sh***s the hell out of her all day, so you gotta watch your step all day:-)

Today was fun, was at work, finished my first project and straight after work I went down to Venice for surfing. So I went there, caught the first wave and damn boy, almost standing on my board...hehe well almost, but it was really cool to be in the water, watch the cali sunset and feeling better on the board with every wave... After sun dived into the ocean I walked back to my car and then, shit!!! left lights on! "Noooo" I thought, well my VW VAN (Bruce Willis Racing Team Garage Support) would handle this without a blink of an eye, but this lousy "murxed" together japanese ride wouldn't be able...thats sure. So I put my surfboard in the back, sat down, turned the keys and guess what! Not even a single sound came out of the machine!

Damn! So I thought, what do you do know little stupid danger don, standing here, barefoot with your wetsuit on, asking a all tattooed guy in his hummer for help....sure! NOT! Finally I called Margret, mum of my house, and asked her for help, but she told me that she'll call the AAA (ACDC in Germany....ah well no, ADAC!;-) and so she did. In 15 minutes I got two calls, updating me where the service car was...finally he came, asked me for ID and stuff...he sat in his car, I looked for my keys, put them into the starter lock just to know where they....and then?!?!?! LITTLE BLUE CRAZY CAR STARTS RUNNING!!! Hahahah oh boy!!! Looked at the mechanic, both laughed, thanked him and went off:-)

Yeah, you got 39 minutes left to call me stupid today:-) But I've not expected the batterie to get to life this fast again...so anyway, I'm safe, my car is too, good night everyone!

Theres one thing to mention, really really important, life-safing:
FIGURED OUT THE BEST BEER OF MY STAY!!!!
It's called LANDSHARK, looks beautiful and tastes perfect!
FINS UP everybody!
See Ya!

Hey Guys, Gays and Katzebohles back home! How is life in a black-yellow country?! All that I can say: In a blue-red-white one it's pretty amazing...and btw I don't mean France:-)

Yeah, sorry for your long waiting hours till this update...but it was a lot to do, a lot to see so this one should become a big one! Lets start with friday! Oh boy, two days ago, can barely remember...but I try! I've been at work, doing a lot of CSS/HTML with Wordpress right now, annyoing to learn, but good to be able to know how to do it in the end. After work I went down to Venice Beach and met Kessi and Janine there who where came back from their short trip to SF. Told me that Santa Cruz should be great, with all the seals and surfers there, I should definitely hang out there for some days...lets see. Yeah, we sat down at the beach, having a few beers, talking, watching the surfers hitting the last waves of the day. Pretty sunset again, they are mind blowing right now, will probably take a few shots soon.

After the beers (thank god you are allowed to drive till 0.8 here, at least I think, and you shouldn't do it) we went to The Bridge, a mall pretty near my home in Emerson Ave to grab some food. On the way there two cop rides showed up in front of us...and I didn't feel that sober, so we kind of escaped from them into some dark alleys...At the Mall we went to a thai-restaurant with some nice vegie food and enjoyed the rest of the night there.

Saturday:
This day was action from dawn till dusk. I stood up, wanted to go running my 10km, but after 4km my stomach felt like squeezing together and hurting like hell, damn thai-bamboo-rat-food hehe! So I went back home, ate some good cornflakes, took my ride and went to the surf store I've been the day before to buy my FIRST OWN SURFBOARD!!! The guy was a nice one, but not really on time, he told me I should come back in 15min, I came, board hasn't been finished, after one hour I came back again...NOT....I decided to give him a really long time to fix the few skratches in it. Kessi and Janine already waited at my house when I came, so we went to Downtown instantly.
It was the huge RED BULL SOAPBOXRACE! And it was huge dude! I'd say more than 10 000 people have been there and the atmosphere was amazing. Red Bull did an amzing job, cameras everywhere, helicopters and great hosts. The track wasn't easy, a few chicanes, 2 jumps and a damn hot ground loop. The soapboxes where all designed, all drivers costumed and they did a great show all together. Drives down the hill more or less successfull, but quite entertaining.

It was hot as hell in downtown so we decided to go back to the beach...but like it is almost always these days...everything closer than 2 miles to the beach is covered by fog - sucks! Then it was time for STORY OF THE (fuckin :-) YEAR!!! Kessi and Janine went to Hollywood once more and I drove down to Long Beach, where the magic should happen that night. But what the hell was this?! I've expected a huge festival, 3 stages, down at the beach...and what what was the venue?! A GOD DAMN HOTEL!!! Hahahaha, how funny is that?! They rented a whole hotel complex with all its conference rooms and did a festival in there?! "Hat down". This situation was so weird, seeing bands play on a carpet floor, open balconies everywhere, but hey, thats crazy America...

Kessi and his girl showed up at ten, we caught some drinks and stood outside when suddenly two girls showed up and started to talk like waterfalls to us!!! And they shouldn't stop for hours! "Oh you're from Germany?!?! I looooove people from foreign countries (her hand started to grab my knee...) You should know that I'm half german!! (....she came closer...) I want to know everything about germany...(...now she was close enough that she should be able to smell what I've eaten before - Garlic Pasta - STRIIIKE!!!)" Hahahaha! Oh boy, what crazy girls, and not even pretty...poor boy! Yeah I don't want to tell the whole story, cause they didn't stop bothering us the whole night. I mean it was cool, talking to them, they where nice but yeah...if you see no "finish line" in the end of the night - it makes no sense to talk hahaha! Then it was time for Story of the Year! GREEEEEAAAATTT! The room they've played in wasn't big, maybe 150 people should fit in there, and I was in the second row! Perfect! They were fucking amazing!!!! Such cool, nice and funny guys and having their instruments under control like crazy apes! It was so so cool, one of the guys even did his backflip from a guitar box, the guitarplayer grabbed a bag of a girl standing in the first row during a break, shouldered it and restarted playing...to sum up: MIND BLOWING!!! I love it!

Sunday:
Opened my eyes, looked around in my room and there it was, my sweet sweet nice nice new own surfboard! It looks so goddamn hot, but have a look on your own at the pics I've posted. After some Skypes with mummy and daddy, greg and my dearest Kecke I've watched some videos how to wax a surfboard cause I had no idea how to do that. I took a few photos, cleaned it and waxed it. After a nice tortellini-vegetable-mix I drove down to venice to go surfing. But if you believe it or not...I've been searching for a free parking lot FOR ONE HOUR!!!!! Thats insane! Hilarious!!!! There was a street festival 3 streets behind the beach and everything and I really mean every single parking lot was blocked with cars.

So I said to myself, now the liter of beer (=Maß ;-) ) is full I go to a public parking and pay money....20$!!!!! WHAT?!?!?! You want me to pay 20 bucks for 2 hours of parking...yeah...put on your helmet again and live your life banana face! So I drove another 20 min and then I finally found one....but what a cool story to this one...I came there and saw a guy walking round his huge huge 1960s cadillac which was complete parked from the guy in front of him, he didn't had a chance to come out on his own, so I parked in second row and told him that I'll help him and show him how much space is left...but he was so funny and said: "You know what? If this f*** asshole thinks he can park that near - I'll show him what you get for this...." I said ok and went into my car again watching the guy rolling to the rear bumper of the car in front, going full throttle to push him forward...than slowly backwards again...then forward again...booom, again to the bumpers of the guy in front of him...after repeating that almost 10 times, he gave me a horn, smiled and drove by. I parked in it, took my surfboard and had a look at the rearbumper...HAHAHAHA!!!! It was completely scratched and crushed! So never mess with Cadillac-Drivers!!!

Then: SECOND SURF in my life. I got to know a surfer real quick, he was asking stuff about my board (which I had no idea of) and we swam out to the ocean, talking about his and my life...nice guy....But then the waves came...and it was horrible! Trying to get one, paddling till your arms almost burn and then, drop it in, nose dunking into the water, salto mortale, 1000 liters of salty water in every single hole of your body and after 20 seconds, gasping for breath alive again!!! And this procedure over and over again!!! I've been in the water for almost 2 hours and didn't made it with 2 feet on top of my board one single time!!!! Oh boy, surfing is harder to learn then I thought! But I got at least 3 months left till the ocean freezes, so enough time to almost die in the water:-) But I'll make it, I'm sure, even if my first real ride will be on Christmas! I don't care at all!!

Oh man, I write this one already for over and hour - it's still not finished. Back home, Kessi and Janine waited to use the bathroom, cause they've already checked out at their motel in the morning. So after showering and powdering our nose we went to the pizza place (the one you've seen Geli) and ordered one Pizza together (one pizza - bigger than a table for 4 people hahaha) crazy!

The owner - his name should be Carlos - was sitting with an old american guy smoking a cigar - his name should be Leo - at the table beside us. He started to talk to us and was so funny and nice, he's from El Salvador, lived in Cuba and has now a pizza store one minute away from my house - nice! The old guy asked me where I'm from and I told him..."Ah Deutschland, wo denn genau?!" Heheh great! He has been a marine back in the days and was based at Berlin during world war two. "We killed a lot of this damn SS-Frogs - they were no men at all!!!" ( :-) ) He has been to Germany in the 90es a lot he told me and as the conversation turned completely into german, you've seen how good his german was. He wants me to talk to him again the next months that he can improve his german again. After eating a real good pizza and a really funny converstation with Carlos I went back home, did my laundry, cleaned my room and wrote this blog here!

I hope you're happy with it, again, not read through, who find mistakes, write me an email....hahaha, I don't give a f***...send it to Guido@Westerwaves.com and have fun!

See you guys soon! Bye bye!

PS: Ride of the day:
